MASSAGE THERAPY
At the Rejuvenation Center, we have a team of Licensed Massage Therapists
on staff because we recognize the broad range of benefits that massage
therapy has to offer our patients. Massage therapy has always been recognized
as a legitimate aid for low back and neck pain and an effective adjunct to
low back and neck treatments.
Our massage therapy team is an important part of our spine rehab program for
a number of reasons. The work they do is often a strong complement to the other
treatments a patient may receive in our clinic. A patient may be directed into
a series of massage therapy sessions as indicated to help meet the objectives of
the prescribed spine rehab program.
Physical Benefits of Massage Therapy:
• Relaxes muscle tension and stiffness as well as improving joint flexibility, range
of motion and posture. This aids in the recovery of muscle soreness or muscle spasms
following physical activity, allowing greater success with Interdiscal Decompression,
Postural Restoration and Core Stabilization.
• Aids in rehabilitation after an injury or surgery. By promoting faster healing of
strained muscles and sprained ligaments, massage reduces pain and swelling in addition
to reducing the formation of excessive scar tissue.
• Improves circulation of blood and lymph fluids. The muscle relaxation helps to relieve
stress and aid in relaxation, which can also help with insomnia. Massage can also promote
deeper and easier breathing as well as reducing blood pressure.
• Leads to increased endorphin levels. The increase of endorphin levels is actually one
of the greatest benefits of massage therapy. Endorphins are the chemicals the body
produces that make you feel energized, rested and rejuvenated. Promoting an increased
level of endorphins is an effective component in managing chronic pain and increasing
levels of patient activity. This helps strengthen the immune system as well as optimizing
a patient’s overall health.

My pain was causing me to consider a new occupation, giving up golf, and stopping my normal fitness activities. I thought I was to be one of those “debilitated” people who can only walk around and watch others participate in life. With the help of the therapists, I now can function at the level I used to without fear of painful ramifications. |
