AGING AND CONDITIONING

A functional decline for both men and women is one percent per year. Simply stated, as we age our strength, balance, coordination, agility, and especially our flexibility slowly decrease. Together, these factors often lead to deconditioning and excessive joint wear. Arthritis is a chronic and often debilitating disease affecting an estimated 40 million Americans and registers as the leading cause of disability in people over the age of 15.

If you are someone who is in need of rejuvenation and you feel that exercise could help you improve your quality of life, then please let our expert staff be of service to you. One of our knowledgeable and skilled physical therapists will evaluate your posture, gait strength, flexibility, mobility, endurance, coordination and balance. They will then outline a plan of care focusing on your individual needs through exercise and optimal physical activity. Our goal is to reduce or prevent functional disability and assist individuals in maintaining maximum independence in their daily activities.

Once told that I had patellofemoral pain syndrome, and that there was no real conclusive cause, I began physical therapy to strengthen my hip muscles. After 3 months of adhering to a strict exercise program (2-2 1/2 hours a day for 6 days a week) with little to no results, I decided to seek a second opinion. I was fortunate to get an appointment with James Anderson who, within 5 minutes of meeting me, knew I suffered from a postural problem of which the knee pain was a symptom. It was encouraging to find someone who asked "why?" and then found the cause. The physical therapist started me in a therapy program that addressed the true source of my problems and I immediately began to see and feel results. At the Rejuvenation Center, I was treated like an important patient and not dismissed as a non-athlete. As a dancer and an actor, it is vital for me to be completely healthy and pain free - I need my body for my work the rest of my life! My only wish is that I would have known about this treatment from the start. Three months of incorrect therapy has forced me to work with pain much longer than I should have, and it has also forced me to change my plans for the upcoming year. However, thanks to the second opinion I sought out, I am on a clear road to a full recovery after just one month of therapy. I have referred The Rejuvenation Center to many others already and will continue to do so in the future.
