Testing
Patients preparing for DRX or VAX-D treatments will undergo a series of objective tests
to help fine tune the prescription for the specific level of disk pathology. These tests
include a bone density test, a nerve conduction test and computerized spinal range of motion
and strength analysis, all performed in our clinic. The bone density test helps identify a
patient who may not qualify for spine decompression or if any modifications need to be made
with the amount of force used during decompression. The nerve conduction test helps clarify
which spinal nerve root may be the most impinged and which is the strongest contributor to a
patient’s radicular nerve pain. It also serves as a helpful screening tool to determine if a
given patient may need to be referred to a Neurological group for further EMG or nerve
conduction analysis. The computerized range of motion and strength analysis helps establish
a treatment baseline for later comparison and can be re-measured when a patient finishes the
program to determine objective progress with each testing parameter.
